Multiplier Event Held at Juraj Dobrila University of Pula

On March 20, 2025, the Faculty of Informatics at Juraj Dobrila University of Pula hosted a multiplier event dedicated to the topic of data privacy and security in education. The event brought together students, educators, and researchers to explore current challenges and best practices in protecting personal data in digital learning environments.

Led by Prof. Tihomir Orehovački, the event featured a comprehensive presentation that addressed key issues such as:

  • The increasing reliance on cloud-based data storage in schools
  • Potential cybersecurity threats, including phishing, ransomware, and DDoS attacks
  • Technical and organizational measures to safeguard sensitive student information
  • Strategies for raising awareness about safe and ethical data use among all educational stakeholders
  • The importance of fostering digital competences among both students and teachers

An important part of the event was the interactive poster design session, during which students created visual materials aimed at educating different target groups—students, teachers, and parents—about responsible behavior in digital contexts and the importance of protecting personal data. These posters reflected not only the key messages from the presentation, but also the creativity and engagement of the participants.

The event concluded with an open discussion that encouraged attendees to reflect on the broader implications of data privacy and to consider how schools can take proactive steps to protect the rights and digital well-being of their communities.
