Students Learn About Online Safety with the NAO Robot

In an era where digital literacy is more important than ever, sixth-grade students at I. Primary School Čakovec recently engaged in an interactive learning experience focused on online safety and responsible digital behavior. As part of their computer science lessons, students explored key aspects of cybersecurity, personal data protection, and critical thinking in the digital space.

Throughout the lessons, students learned about the risks of sharing personal information online, the importance of creating strong and unique passwords, and how to evaluate the reliability of online content. They also discussed potential threats such as phishing, cyberbullying, and misinformation, gaining essential knowledge on how to navigate the digital world securely.

A unique highlight of this initiative was the involvement of NAO, a humanoid robot, which played an active role in the learning process. NAO interacted with students, answered their questions, and provided practical tips on online safety, making the educational experience both engaging and thought-provoking. Through interactive discussions, students were encouraged to reflect on their digital footprint, question the credibility of online sources, and develop responsible online habits. The robot’s ability to communicate and demonstrate real-world cybersecurity scenarios helped reinforce key lessons in an innovative and dynamic way.

To conclude the activities, students designed creative posters showcasing their newly acquired knowledge on internet safety. These posters served as a visual reminder of the importance of responsible online behavior and were displayed in the school to raise awareness among their peers.

By integrating advanced technologies like AI-powered robotics into the classroom, this initiative highlights the importance of digital education in preparing students for the challenges of the modern online world. Such approaches not only make learning more engaging but also equip young learners with the skills necessary to protect themselves in an increasingly digital society.
