Second-year students from I. Primary School Čakovec recently took part in the interactive activity “Whose Profile Is This Anyway?” designed to deepen their understanding of online safety and personal data protection. The activity encouraged critical thinking about digital identities and the reliability of information found on the internet.
At the beginning of the session, students were given three different online profiles containing specific details. Their task was to discuss what kind of people might be behind these profiles, what they might enjoy, and what they might do in their daily lives. After presenting their conclusions, they were given additional information about these individuals—leading to an important realization: not everything we see online is true.
This eye-opening discussion helped students recognize the risks of identity misrepresentation, the importance of safeguarding personal information, and the need for a critical approach to online interactions. They actively participated, demonstrating great curiosity and engagement as they explored the implications of sharing personal data and interacting with unknown profiles.
By integrating digital literacy into classroom discussions, activities like this equip students with essential skills for navigating the digital world safely. Understanding the potential risks and developing responsible online habits are key steps in fostering a safer and more informed generation of internet users.
