Students at First Primary School Čakovec recently participated in an engaging and educational workshop focused on Online Safety and Collaboration. The session aimed to raise awareness about digital threats and promote responsible online behavior.
During the workshop, students explored various types of online scams, including phishing emails, fake banking websites, and fraudulent charity appeals. They discussed how identity theft happens and the potential consequences it can have.

To improve their online security, students practiced creating strong passwords using a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. They also learned how to activate two-factor authentication (2FA) on popular platforms such as Google, Facebook, and Office 365. In addition, students reviewed privacy settings on social media and learned how to control who can see their personal information.

Real-life examples of online fraud were analyzed to help students recognize suspicious emails, fake online stores, and social engineering tactics. They also learned how to verify website security before making online purchases and how to identify red flags associated with fraudulent activities.

As a practical activity, students created digital posters and presentations with key recommendations for staying safe online. Their materials, including tips on strong password creation, enabling 2FA, and identifying phishing attempts, were saved in the shared Teams folder titled “Online Safety and Collaboration.”

This experience not only helped students recognize good and bad online habits but also encouraged them to apply safe practices in their daily internet use. By developing these essential digital skills, they are now better equipped to protect their personal data and navigate the online world responsibly.
