Students at First Primary School Čakovec recently took part in a research project aimed at exploring their awareness and understanding of ethical AI use. Conducted through an anonymous survey, the study assessed students’ experiences with artificial intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, and MyAI.
The survey examined how students interact with AI for learning and homework, their perceptions of AI-generated content, and their views on responsible AI use. It also addressed key topics such as digital identity, privacy, academic integrity, and the impact of AI on learning motivation.
A particular focus was placed on data security and privacy, ensuring that students recognize the importance of protecting their personal information when using AI-powered platforms. The research explored how students manage their digital identities, the risks of sharing sensitive data online, and the steps they take to safeguard their privacy. Through this study, students were encouraged to think critically about ethical AI usage and the potential consequences of data misuse in digital environments.
The collected data will be thoroughly analyzed to identify trends and challenges in students’ AI usage. The insights gained from the study will serve as a foundation for future educational initiatives, helping students develop essential digital literacy skills, critical thinking, and ethical awareness when engaging with AI technologies.
This initiative underscores the importance of preparing young learners for a digital future, empowering them to navigate AI-driven tools responsibly and make informed decisions about their use in education and beyond.
