On March 12, 2025, the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Maribor hosted the final multiplier event of the SPADATAS project, dedicated to raising awareness about digital safety and data privacy in schools.
Led by Dr. Marjan Krašna and Dr. Igor Pesek, the event brought together university students who actively participated in the project and expanded their knowledge in the field of cybersecurity, legal frameworks (including GDPR), and the challenges of the digital age. The importance of developing digital competences was highlighted, especially in the context of educating young people on how to protect their privacy and recognize online threats.

As part of the event, students presented posters they had created on the topic of online safety and personal data protection. These posters reflected their understanding of key cybersecurity concepts and served as creative tools for promoting responsible digital behavior among their peers.

Participants were introduced to various aspects of digital safety—from technical topics such as internet architecture and online threats (viruses, trojans, phishing), to social issues like online impersonation, cyberbullying, and managing one’s digital identity. Best practices from Slovenia were also shared, along with helpful resources available to teachers and students (e.g., Safe.si, Varni na internetu, CERT.si).
